Why convert AVIF to JPG?
AVIF is a modern image format based on the AV1 video codec. It makes files much smaller than JPG at the same quality, which is why more and more websites serve their images as AVIF. The catch is that many apps still can’t open it: some versions of Windows and Microsoft Office, many photo editors, printing services and upload forms reject AVIF files.
JPG, on the other hand, opens everywhere. Converting an AVIF image to JPG is the quickest way to use a picture you saved from the web in a document, an email or an app that doesn’t understand AVIF yet.
How this converter works
Your browser already knows how to decode AVIF, so this tool simply reads the image, draws it and saves it again as a JPG, all on your device. Nothing is uploaded, which makes it fast and keeps private photos private. Large batches are processed in the background so the page stays responsive.
